The Water Division of the East Bridgewater Department of Public Works is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the town’s water supply and distribution system. We are dedicated to providing, protecting, and preserving this system in full compliance with all Federal and State requirements.
The division maintains the town’s five municipal wells, two green sand filtration plants, a 1.5 million gallon water storage tank, approximately 112 miles of water mains, more than 4,000 water service connections, and over 1000 fire hydrants. Division personnel also read, install and maintain the water metering of the system, inspect and survey for backflow protection, perform bi-annual hydrant flushing, and other associated programs.
We are proud to say that the 2 new green sand water filtrations plants are performing very well since coming online and are operating in full compliance with all DEP regulations. In addition, we have replaced over 35,000 feet of the oldest cast iron water main to improve the overall system‘s water quality and eliminate fire protection issues. Additional water main replacement is currently in the planning stages.
Final Water Readings
Before closing on a home, it is important to ensure that you get a final water reading. Please follow the instructions below, and if you have any questions, please call us at the DPW office at (508) 378-1620.
First, you will need to locate the water meter. It will be in the basement or lowest level of your home.
With the cover open, shine a bright flashlight on the dark panel for 15-20 seconds. The numbers should appear, and you can then take a picture of them.
Email the photo with the decimal points along with your name, the address of the home where the final is being done, and the name of the new owner to dpw@eastbridgewaterma.gov.
